Harriet Tubman is a historical figure who will always be remembered, but she is specifically honored on March 10, Harriet Tubman Day.
Tubman is remembered most for her work to abolish slavery and forging a route to freedom for slaves, the Underground Railroad. A former slave herself, Tubman escaped a Maryland plantation.
