    Alison Weir had a career in the Civil Service before her first book, Britain`s Royal Families, came out in She has since written fifteen other history books, including The Six Wives of Henry VIII, The Princes in the Tower, Lancaster and York, Children of England, Elizabeth the Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry VIII: King and Court, Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley, Katherine Swynford and The Lady in the Tower: The Fall of Anne Boleyn. Alison has also written four historical novels, the latest of which, A Dangerous Inheritance, was published in Her books sell all over the world. Four of them have been chosen as Book of the Week on BBC Radio 4. Her last history book, Mary Boleyn, was published in , and her next, a biography of Elizabeth of York, will be published in November  In , she published a short book, Traitors of the Tower, for the Quick Reads series for emergent adult readers. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts

    For visitors who would like to know something about me, I am a Londoner, born and bred at Westminster, although I have also lived in Norfolk, Sussex and Scotland, and now reside in Surrey. I married Rankin Weir (d) in , and we have had two children, John () and Kate (born ). I was educated at the City of London School for Girls, obtaining A-levels in English Literature, Art and History (English and European medieval history, with twelfth-century monasticism in the West as my specialist subject), then at the North Western Polytechnic of London, where I trained as a teacher with History as my main subject, studying world history, English medieval history and the Italian Renaissance. I did not pursue that career, however, because I quickly became disillusioned with trendy teaching methods.

    Dr Alison Weir is the biggest-selling kvinna historian (and the fifth best-selling historian) in the United Kingdom since records began in She has published thirty-two titles and sold more than 3 million books - over a million in the UK and million in the USA.
