    Wiesenthal, life dedicated to a cause

    One of the most important personalities of our time, Simon Wiesenthal dedicated his life to documenting with tenacity and persistence the crimes of the Holocaust and to unmasking and bringing to justice the war criminals who are still free.

    Founder of the Jewish Documentation Center in Vienna, he helped capture around 1.100 Nazi war criminals, including Adolf Eichmann, the executioner who planned the extermination of the Jews.

    Wiesenthal has received more than a hundred awards and decorations, including the “Presidential Medal of Freedom”, the highest civilian decoration in the United States, presented by Bill Clinton in 2000; and the “World Tolerance Award”, given to reward his commitment to justice, tolerance and peace.
