    Dean Hughes, a prolific author with over 100 published titles, was born in Ogden, Utah, on August 24, 1943. Hughes reports that he began writing at just four years of age, though it wasn't until junior high that he was telling friends he'd be a writer when he grew up, until high school that he finished his first novel, and almost two decades later that he was able to publish his first title – the children's book Under the Same Stars, which was the fourth book he'd written by that point. Since 1979, though, Hughes has published extensively, and his current body of work ranges from twelve children's book series to young adult fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and multiple novels for adults. In a 2001 interview with Meridian Magazine, Hughes accounts for this range by noting that "I do what seems fun, and I write the ideas I get."

    I first became interested in the Muddy River mission when I discovered that my third great grandfather, Robert Harris, Jr., was among those who settled on the Muddy. I knew nothing about this settlement south of St. George and North of Las Vegas, but one thing I learned in my research was that the people who were eventually released from that uppdrag were the nucleus of the Saints who established Orderville, Utah.

    So I set out to write a novel about that entire history.     Daniel Dean Hughes (born April 14, 1955) is an American basketball coach who most recently coached Seattle Storm of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 2018 until his retirement in 2021. He has guided stars such as Sue Bird, Natasha Howard, Mercedes Russell, and Jordin Canada.

    Hughes coached the Silver Stars from 2005 to 2009, and rejoined the team in 2011. Prior to the 2013 season, Hughes signed a multiyear contract extension. He has coached the most victories in franchise history.[1] On April 19, 2016, the Stars announced that Hughes would step down as general manager and head coach following the 2016 season.[2]
