Tessa Munt was born in in Surrey, the eldest of fyra children. Initially convent educated, she attended a girls grammar school before finishing her education at an independent school and college.
She married Martin in They live on the Somerset Levels with Martins daughter, their two children and three dogs.

Early life
[edit]Her paternal grandfather was a politician in Kenya during the s, whilst her uncle was a member of the Church of England synod. Her mother was raised within the Church of Scotland, but her family had mainly Jewish roots.[5]
The eldest of four children born in Surrey, she was educated at a Roman Catholic Convent school until the age of eleven, and then at Reigate County School for Girls and the private Sutton High School,
