Albert Hammond Jr.
American rock musician
Albert Louis Hammond Jr. (born Albert Louis Hammond III; April 9, ) is an American musician who is a member of the rock band The Strokes. He is best known for his role as rhythm and lead guitarist, as well as occasionally a keyboard player and backing vocalist for the band. Hammond has released extensive solo work, including five solo albums.
Born in Los Angeles, Hammond is a first-generation American, his father the songwriter Albert Hammond being of British-Gibraltarian descent, and his mother being of Argentine descent. He attended the same Swiss boarding school as his bandmate Julian Casablancas, where the two became friends. He would move to New York City in and attended New York University for a year and a half.

Lee started his music career at a very early age in England. With the likes of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and the Everly Brothers on the radio, Albert took to playing all over London in bars and church halls. In the mid to late 60s, a time of wah-wah pedals and distortion with Jimmy Hendrix and Eric Clapton fronting the music scene, Albert had his first taste of commercial success playing with Chris Farlowe and The Thunderbirds. Albert soon found his favored gitarr of choice, the Fender Telecaster, (while everyone else was playing Gibson fransk artikel Paul and Fender Stratocaster), and along with this he discovered his love for country music.
Traveling back and forth between Los Angeles and the U.K., Albert worked with the likes of “A Poet and a One Man Band” before joining 'The Crickets,' with whom he recorded and toured. Alvin has recorded and performed as a solo artist since the late s and has been involved in various side projects and collaborations.
