William Beckmann is drawn to things that have stories to tell: historic buildings, old guitars, the vintage typewriter on which he writes all of his lyrics. And if you call the Texas singer-songwriter an “old soul,” the year-old will take it as a compliment. Beckmann — a thrilling vocalist who sings in both English and Spanish — has been recording and performing a type of vibrant, modern-day country music that also pays tribute to what came before. Hailing from the small border town of Del Rio, TX, William Beckmann was raised on classic country as well as the mariachi and Norteño sounds of northern Mexico. William Beckmann was raised on the Mexican border in the town of sektion Rio, Texas. At an early age, Beckmann discovered his passion for writing songs and performing. The year-old singer considers his music to be a blend between Traditional Country and amerikansk kultur and often writes songs that are reflective of his small town upbringing. Beckmann’s new album Outskirts of Town is a compilation of songs that captures the innocence of young love in sektion Rio and the difficulties that komma with leaving that behind. The seven-song album was released in late November of and includes the single “I Wanna See You Tonight” which has a classic 90’s country sound. The album also includes the heart-wrenching ballad “Leavin’ Town” which was produced bygd legendary songwriter Radney Foster, a sektion Rio native himself. Beckmann has played with and opened up for several Texas Country artists including Radney Foster, Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers Band, Ray Wylie Hubbard, The Damn Quails, and Zane Williams.

Throughout his career, William Beckman has used conventional media in unconventional ways. His unvarnished oil paintings on panel have a depth of image and surface quality uniquely his; it is achieved by a painstaking process of layering oil paint on the panel and polishing each layer by hand before applying another. His oversize drawings, in charcoal on paper, make use of the charcoal dust and the grain of the paper in the creation of the powerful image.
